TXT: The Trailblazers of Tomorrow
Debuting with many watchful eyes on this boyband as they shared the same company as BTS in 2019, Tomorrow X Tomorrow (TXT) was one of the most anticipated groups. I was lucky enough to view TXT on their current world tour ‘Act: Promise’ this past Memorial Day weekend in Houston.
TXT ‘Act: Promise’ World Tour

BEST VISUAL CONCERT
Overall Rating: 4/5
Unlike the previous concerts I have experienced, this was truly the first time I felt disconnected to the performers on stage. There were a lot of factors that played into why I felt that way with the biggest ones being that I was not the target audience and baseball stadiums are truly one of the worse venues to host concerts at. In no way was this TXT’s fault. In fact, they were great performers and really tried hard to fill up a stadium of that size.
Last year, I attended another concert in Arlington for Twice at a baseball stadium as well. For baseball stadium venues, seats absolutely matter! Although I was lucky enough to get a section 100 seat for TXT, the stage is set pretty far away - something you will have to consider.
Although, I was not able to see the members of TXT perform and had to resort to looking at the two big screens on the ends. One of the best perks of being further away was that I could get a wider view of the stage.
This concert was 100% the best visual concert I have ever witnessed. The background visual coloring from song to song and the camera quality for the big screen was top tier - unlike anything I had seen before. I have to give this to TXT and Minute Maid for achieving this high quality of artwork that blew all the audience away. I have been at another baseball stadium just a year prior and Minute Maid was on a completely different level.
Was there anything you wished could’ve been improved?
I would improve the speakers at Minute Maid or have increased the mics during the monologues. As visually pleasing the background was on stage, one thing everyone consistently mentioned was that they could not hear the vocals or the member’s voices. It sounded really mumbled and low for certain parts of the concert, which is a disappointment.
Most Impressive Note of the Night?
TXT are masters at endurance and stamina! To perform a concert nonstop for 3 hours with only 2 one-minute breaks for clothing changes, I was uber impressed with the speed and stamina the 5 members displayed on stage. I have been to many KPOP concerts at this point. My expectations coming in even with the most rigorous dance breaks and performances are that there will be at least 5-7 short breaks in between concert sections for fans and the artists to rest. TXT completely reset my expectations. I might not be as young as their target audience is, but I was shocked to find myself wanting to rest and sit down half way through the concert. Bare in mind, some of the members onstage are the same age as me! To see them dancing and running around singing at full lung capacity without breaking a sweat was the most impressive note of the night.
Another call out is their English monologues! Without really needing a translator until the end of the concert, all 5 members of TXT spoke fluently that I had not noticed who that sixth voice was at the end and it caught me off guard.
Favorite Performance of the Concert?
We were teased on social media prior to the concert from fellow MOAs that we could be having a special song played at the end of the concert. As Houston was several stops into the US tour, we already had a setlist to go by. One of my favorite songs by TXT ‘Blue Hour’ was unfortunately excluded from the setlist for the US tour. With cowboys and other Texan-themed concepts from TXT, we were treated to Beyonce’s' ‘TEXAS HOLD ‘EM’ short dance and ‘Blue Hour’!
A close second that I was not expecting to be so good was ‘Magic’. We were in a lull for moment with all the ballad songs they have been singing and then Magic came on. Everyone was jumping and I swear it seemed like time slowed down…like magic. I felt like I was watching a movie and this was one of the few moments where I really connected with the artists on stage and I was not the only one that felt that way. All my friends who attended with me also mentioned that this was one of their favorite performances of the night.
Ending Comments
The setlist for this concert was very diverse ranging from ballads to rock songs. The sections of the setlist was thoughtfully planned out. TXT’s remix for ‘Sugar Rush Ride’ is one of the spectacular entrances I have ever witnessed at a concert. Staying true to their South Korean heritage, the 5 boys shot on stage to a majestic Korean drum introduction piece before immediately transitioning to a remix of their popular song ‘Sugar Rush Ride’. Out of all the songs that could’ve been rearranged for this classical twist to their heritage, I was not anticipating ‘Sugar Rush Ride’, however might I just say BRAVO! The energy level was constantly high throughout the audience; I might’ve just been drained halfway through, but everyone else around me was screaming and having a wonderful time.
Breaking free of what the industry classified them in the beginning as “BTS juniors”, I am so proud to see TXT blazing their own path and music color in such a competitive industry. They are such a balanced group of 5 individuals that seeing their harmonies and chemistry on stage only further proved to me that this group is multi-talented and succeed in any genre of music they release year after year. I felt a constant whiplash in music genres throughout the concert in the best way possible as that diversity is exactly what KPOP is and is why I love attending these concerts so much. One moment you are singing your heart out to a song that reminds you of childhood with the ability to float lightly on your feat and spinning in circles with your arms stretched out. The next moment you and everyone else is screaming your heart’s contention to one of the rock songs they are passionately expressing on stage.
Do you want to see TXT? It is not too late as they are still on tour. I promise you do not need to know any of their songs prior to attending. You are definitely in for a great show! Houston was one of the few stops on the tour that even allowed VIPs to interact and send-off the artist after the concert. It was a really well planned send-off with proper spacing from each person to allow everyone who paid for that package the interaction they deserve with TXT. With TXT offering that sweet package for their fans and delivering such great tailored fan service in their concerts based on the venue, they are #2 on my list when it comes to satisfying fans.
